BHU announces Admission for the Academic Session 2020-21

Varanasi: Banaras Hindu University (BHU) on Wednesday announced the schedule of entrance examination for the academic session 2020-21. The online application process would commence from the Foundation Day, Basant Panchami (January 30) and last date of receipt of online application form is February 29.

According to the BHU spokesperson, the university entrance tests will be organized from April 26 to 29 in two shifts in all test centres across the country. Candidates are advised to ensure details of courses and test dates before submission of their online application forms. Required details for the course would be available on the University’s Entrance Test Portal ( www.bhuonline.in ). The total number of applicants for the previous academic session 2019-20 were around 5.0 lakhs.

The university is inviting online applications from eligible candidates for admission to its 25 Under Graduate and 131 Post Graduate Programmes to Academic Session 2020-21. The Computer Based Test will be conducted in 200 cities across the country for admission to various under graduate and post graduate courses.

In the light of directives from Government of India, the BHU has introduced the provision of scribe for divyang candidates (persons with disabilities) at all test centres across the country. Such applicants may also be allowed to bring their own scribe at the test centre with the condition that the educational qualification of scribe should be one level below the eligibility qualification for the candidate.

The university is going to conduct its entrance examinations in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode in 200 cities for admission to various under graduate and postgraduate programmes. The conduct of CBT mode test in secured environment in large number of cities across the country will provide ease of access to candidates and would increase the diversity in students’ population. This mode also facilitates a candidate to change his/her answer to a question with a click of mouse anytime during the duration of examination. This facility was not available in pen-paper (OMR Based) mode.

Founded by Bharat Ratna Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya in 1916, BHU is one of the most prestigious Central Universities comprising five Institutes, 16 Faculties, 135 Departments, a Mahila Mahavidyalaya, two Interdisciplinary Schools in its main campus at Varanasi and Rajiv Gandhi South Campus at Barkachha, Mirzapur. BHU is the largest residential University in Asia.

In 2019 BHU secured 3rd rank amongst different Universities and 10th rank in the overall Institutions in the country by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. Recognizing the prestige and achievements of BHU, the Government of India has included this great seat of learning amongst the group of 20 Institution of Eminence (IoE) of the country.
