Varanasi: Properties worth of lakhs of rupees were gutted in fire broke out at a godown of BSNL in Jaupur district on Monday morning. It took around six hours to extinguish the fire.
According to reports, around 3 am the fire broke out at the godown in Ishapur locality. Electric short-circuit is believed to the reason behing the fire outbreak. Soon the fire engulfed the entire godown spreading smoke all around.
The local residents informed the police and fire brigade. Soon the police and fire tenders arrived there to extinguish the fire. Jaunpur district magistrate Dinesh Kumar and other senior officials also reached there after getting information.
Several fire tenders including two from Varanasi were engaged to control the fire. The BSNL authorities are assessing the loss caused by the fire. The bundles of cables and other goods were stored in the godown.
