Varanasi: AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra visited Bilariaganj in Azamgarh district on Wednesday to meet the anti-CAA protesters and victims of alleged police action at Jauhar Ali Bagh on February 5.
Launching a scathing attack on BJP-led central and UP government, she said that the government is acting against the constitution. She assured the local residents that she would take up the issue to the Human Rights Commission. The police intentionally cane charged when protesting women were ending their dharna.
She alleged that BJP is breaking the constitution. The new enacted law is not only against any particular community but also against the constitution. She assured the women that she is standing with them in their fight against the CAA.
After landing at the Lal Bahadur Shastri International airport, Priyanka moved to Bilariaganj by road. She met the victims and local people at a compound. The Congress workers accompanying Priyanka were stopped at the barricade, which led to an exchange of heated words with the police.
