SPANDAN-2020 to begin at BHU on Saturday

 

Varanasi: ‘Spandan -2020’, the five-day annual inter-faculty cultural event of Banaras Hindu University (BHU), is going to commence on Saturday. The fest would be formally inaugurated on February 24 by noted musician Padma Shri Soma Ghosh, while the concluding function will be attended by Prof. Suresh Sharma of the National School of Drama on February 27.

 

According to the coordinator Prof. Jagat Kumar Rai, as many as 31 competitive events dedicated to literature, music-dance, drama and visual arts would be held during the fest. As many as 11 organising committees have been constituted for smooth and successful holding of the events. The students of all departments, institutes and colleges would take part in the youth fest. Besides, under the auspices of the union ministry of human resource development a 50-member group of students from Rajiv Gandhi University, Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh) would also take part in the Spandan.

 

The main function would be held at the Amphitheatre ground. Besides, the activities would also be held at Pt Omkar Nath Thakur auditorium, KN Udupa auditorium, Swatantrata Bhawan, Institute of Science, Faculty of Visual Arts, and the department of journalism. Entire campus would be decorated with varieties of flowers during the fest. Local artists and prominent scholars and citizens would be included in the jury.
