The 5th UP Agricultural Science Congress begins in BHU

 

Varanasi: The 5th Uttar Pradesh Agricultural Science Congress on ‘enhancing farmers’ income and water conservation: opportunities and challenges’ organized by the Institute of Agricultural Sciences and UP Agricultural Research Council began at Banaras Hindu University on Saturday.

Addressing the inaugural function, the UP Agriculture minister Surya Pratap Shahi highlighted different government schemes for farmers. He said that a growth was seen in the production of wheat, rice and oil seeds in the state. The government is giving 50% grant on the purchase of agricultural equipment, he said adding that the state government is providing require funds to the agricultural universities particularly working in the field of animal husbandry, he added.

The function was also addressed by agricultural scientist Dr. Mangala Rai, deputy director general of Indian Council of Agricultural Research Dr. RC Agrawal, UP minister Ravindra Jaiswal, Dr. AK Srivastava, and director general of UP Council of Agricultural Research Dr. Vijendra Singh. The Congress is being attended by over 400 agricultural scientists and students.
