Arms suppliers nabbed with AK-47 Cartridges

Azamgarh: Five members of a gang of illegal arms suppliers were nabbed with 24 live cartridges of AK-47 rifle at Mahuari village in Tarwa police station area of Azamgarh district on Friday. Four other members of the gang managed to flee after opening firing on the police team.

According to the Azamgarh SP Sudheer Kumar Singh, they used to supply illegal arms and ammunitions to the gangs of the jailed don turned politician Mukhtar Ansari and killed gangster Munna Bajarangi.

According to reports, acting on a tip off the police team led by Tarwa inspector Sandeep Yadav raided a tube well at Mahuari village. The miscreants opened fire on the police team and tried to flee. However, five of them were caught, while four others fled from the scene in an SUV.

The police recovered 24 live and two missed cartridges of AK-47 rifle, a pistol with cartridge, two motorcycles and a car from them. The arrested persons were identified as Arun Singh alias Sintu, Hariom Singh alias Chunmun, Anjani Singh alias Dabbu, Anand Singh alias Rinku and Naveen Singh alias Siddarth Singh, all natives of Azamgarh district.

During interrogation, they disclosed the names of absconding miscreants including Manish Rai, Anup Singh, Vivek Singh, all residents of Azamgarh district, and a shooter of Munna Bajarangi gang Chhotu Singh of Jaunpur district. The gang used to supply illegal arms and ammunitions to criminals in different districts of eastern UP. The police launched a manhunt to nab the absconding miscreants.
