BHU MULLS TO START PG COURSE ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Varanasi: Considering the importance of Artificial intelligence in various areas, particularly in Cyber Security, the Banaras Hindu University is exploring the possibilities of starting a new postgraduate course on Artificial Intelligence.

According to the BHU spokesperson Rajesh Singh, the idea is also in line with the New Education Policy, 2020, which puts a greater emphasis on technology-based learning and skilling as a major part of education. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Rakesh Bhatnagar has constituted a Committee to explore the feasibility to start the course and various related aspects like preparation of course structure, syllabus, modalities of Teaching/Learning programme and the scope of research in this area.

The course in the field of Artificial Intelligence will provide trained technical manpower to the country and will be a great asset in the area of virtual world which will not only be useful to society but to the country as a whole as well. The proposed course (Master of Science – Artificial Intelligence) will be a course with a technology background and will be the first of its kind when a university will be offering such a course.

The Committee in its first meeting held on Wednesday discussed the issue thoroughly and invited suggestions from the members and deliberated over the proposed course and its syllabus. The meeting was attended by Prof. K. Subbiah, Prof. A. K. Agrawal, Prof. Banketeshwar Tiwari, Prof. S. K. Singh, Dr. Anil Kumar Pandey under the Chairmanship of Prof. Anand Mohan, Member Executive Council, BHU.
