BJP worker killed in Azamgarh
Azamgarh: A BJP worker and aspirant of gram pradhan election Dilip Giri alias Bablu (45) was sprayed with bullets by some unknown miscreants in broad daylight at Gosaiganj market in Deogaon Kotwali police station area on Wednesday.
Local residents staged demonstration in protest against the killing. The police swung into action to identify and nab the miscreants.
According to the reports, Dilip, resident of Gopalpur Sothauli village, had gone to Gosaiganj market. He was sitting outside a saloon, when three miscreants on a motorcycle approached him and opened indiscriminate fire on him. According to the eyewitness, after committing the crime the miscreants fled from the scene waving the gun. Panic prevailed in the market after the shootout.
The police reached there after getting information. Azamgarh SP Sudhir Kumar Singh said that the deceased was also an accused of a murder case taken place five years back. He had come out of the jail two years back. He said that a manhunt has been launched to nab the miscreants.
