CM Yogi inspects flood affected areas of Varanasi

He distributes relief materials among flood affected people

 

Varanasi: The chief minister Yogi Adityanath made a visit to the flood affected areas of the city and took stock of the relief operations on Thursday. The CM took a ride on the boat of NDRF from Rajghat to Puranapul and saw the flood fury caused by Ganga and Varuna rivers.

Though the rising trend of Ganga stopped on Thursday, the river was still flowing over one m above the danger mark (71.262 m). The water level of Ganga was recorded at 72.32 m mark at 4 PM on Thursday. The steps of entire riverfront were submerged under flood waters that also inundated the low-lying residential colonies.

After making a round of flood affected areas, the CM inspected flood relief camps at Alia Garden in Saraiyya area and JP Mehta Inter College. He interacted with flood affected people and knew their problems. He assured them that the government would provide all possible relief to them. He also distributed relief material among them.

After that the CM flagged off 20 mini portable and three big fogging machines. The CM was accompanied by UP ministers Neelkanth Tiwari and Ravindra Jaiswal, divisional commissioner Deepak Agrawal, district magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma and senior police officials.
