Azamgarh: An elderly couple was hacked to death at Gadholi village in Deogaon Kotwali police station area of Azamgarh district. Their mutilated bodies were found on Saturday morning. The police arrested a mentally disturbed boy in this connection.
According to reports, the couple Shrinath Maurya (70) and Maina Devi (65) lived alone in their house, as their son is settled in Mumbai. As per daily routine they were sleeping on the verandah of the house on Friday night. Someone brutally killed them by repeatedly hitting their heads with some blunt object.

The double murder came to light on Saturday morning when some children while playing noticed their bodies in a pool of blood. They raised an alarm, and local residents rushed to the place after hearing their cries. They immediately informed the police.
Senior police officials with forced reached the village after getting the information and started investigating the matter. Azamgarh SP Sudhir Kumar Singh claimed that the couple were killed by a mentally disturbed teenage boy Golu Maurya. His family used to keep him in confinement in a room, but he somehow came out of the room on Friday night and committed the crime. The police arrested the boy and sent the bodies for postmortem.
