Man shot in Azamgarh for delay in rent payment

Azamgarh: A couple were allegedly shot at by the land lord’s son in Kotwali area on Monday for the delay in paying house rent during lockdown period. The husband died during treatment, while wife has been admitted to the hospital for treatment.

According to reports, Sanjeev Singh, resident of Ahiraula area of the district, along with his family have been living in a rented house. He runs a shop of motor parts in the town. As the shop remained closed due to lockdown, he could not pay the rent in time.

An exchange of heated words between them occurred over this issue on Sunday evening. But the matter got normalized at that time. On Monday morning, the landlord’s sun shot at Sanjeev and his wife.

They sustained serious injuries, and were rushed to the district hospital. After preliminary treatment they were referred to a private hospital, where Sanjeev succumbed to injuries.
