Varanasi: In yet another controversial statement the Bairia (Ballia) BJP MLA Surendra Singh on Sunday said that Muslims have ‘janwari pravriti’ (animalistic tendency) to have many wives and reproduce large number of children.
“Muslim Dharma mein aap janate hain ki 50 aurat rakhiye aur 1050 bachche paida kijiye. Ye koi parampara nahi hai, ye to ek janawari pravriti hai. Prakriti pradat jo bhi santan (2-4) aa jaye usme koi baat nahi hai” (In Muslim society you know that people keep 50 wives and give birth to 1050 children. It is not a tradition, but it is an animalistic tendency. Giving birth to two to four children in natural course is normal,” he said while talking to reporters in Ballia.
Singh had been in controversy in the past for his contentious statements. Referring to Unnao gang rape case, he had said that rapes could not be controlled even if Lord Ram comes to the earth. He had also called West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee ‘Surpanakha’, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi a reincarnation of Lord Ram.
