UP citizens will be brought back free of cost from every corner of the country: Yogi

Over 21 lakh people have come back to Uttar Pradesh via special trains-buses; Over 2 lakh people reached Gorakhpur by 163 trains, which is a record

 

Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed to make arrangements to bring back every citizen of Uttar Pradesh to the state free of cost. All expenses will be borne by the state government. CM also appealed to the people to celebrate Eid at home and follow social distancing.

Talking to reporters on Saturday, additional chief cecretary, Home Awanish Kumar Awasthi said that the CM also directed to increase testing. He said that there is a special need to test people coming from other states so that the infection does not spread. The CM directed that large projects should be started soon. He said that a sum of Rs. 20, 924 crore rupees for Ganga Expressway has been estimated. This expressway announced by the CM in a cabinet meeting during Kumbh would connect Meerut and Prayagraj. In spite of the lockdown, UPEIDA has prepared an estimate. Land’s project is about 9 thousand crore rupees. The CM has instructed to take this project forward. During the review of various expressways, CM Yogi was briefed that 5,535 skilled workers are working on Purvanchal Expressway, while 1144 engineers and 3127 big machines are engaged in this project. The CM has given instructions to complete the work before the rainy season.

Awasthi said that till now 1018 Shramik Special trains have arrived in Uttar Pradesh. Over 13.54 lakh people have returned to the state through these trains. In all, 21 lakh people and workers have come back to UP through various modes. He informed that 178 more trains would reach the state in the next couple of days. He said that home quarantine facilities have been arranged for migrant workers, and their complete data has been collected. The CM has instructed to make arrangements for food and water for the migrant workers.

He said that over two lakh people have come to Gorakhpur through 163 trains, which is a record. In Varanasi, arrangements have been made for the arrival of trains at two railway stations. There are about 52 stations in the state, where trains are coming. A train with 1200 people has arrived at Pilibhit. The CM appealed to the people not to travel on foot or through private vehicles. There are about 10-12 trains arriving daily from Delhi.

The CM has directed that interested people can also apply for job cards in quarantine centers. A website is also being prepared to provide employment to migrant workers as per their skills. Complete information about the requirement of work will be made available on the website by the revenue department. He informed that 863 containment / hotspot zones are being monitored through 485 police stations. There are 7. 80 lakh houses where 43 lakh people are staying. He said people who are going to the market should follow social distancing. Shopkeepers should also be vigilant. No one should violate the lockdown under any circumstance.

He said that a new testing lab has been started at BRD Medical College, Gorakhpur. A company L&T proposed to contribute Rs. two crore under CSR to the CM. He said that CM reviewed the work of Bundelkhand Expressway. He was informed that 625 engineers with 2348 workers are working on this project. The work of Gorakhpur Link Express Way is also progressing fast. The CM also directed that all major projects should get the benefit of reduced repo rate announced by the RBI.

ASHA workers have surveyed 7.44 lakh migrant workers; COVID symptoms were found in 844 people: Principal Secretary Health Amit Mohan Prasad

Talking to reporters, Prasad said that workers are being screened through thermal scanner, and they are being sent to 21-day home quarantine, if they do not have symptoms. In case symptoms are found, they are tested and positive patients are admitted to the hospital for treatment. He said that those who have been asked to stay in the home quarantine should stay inside. They must also maintain safe distance from the elderly and children. He said that ASHA workers are surveying migrant workers and we are being informed if symptoms are found. So far, ASHA workers have surveyed 7.44 lakh migrant workers, and symptoms were found in 844 people whose samples are being tested now.

He said that the domestic flights are going to start on the 25th May and the Civil Aviation Ministry has issued protocol regarding the same. The state government would also issue a protocol. He further said that people who intend to stay in UP would have to remain in home quarantine. If someone is coming for 1-2 days for any work then they will have to submit details of their return ticket.

He said that so far emergency services have started in over two and a half thousand hospitals. Vaccination facilities for children are available across the state. He said that now we are going to appoint people from NSS, NCC Nehru Yuva Kendra etc. as COVID Volunteer Force.
