Degrees given to Agriculture graduate in BHU

Varanasi: As a part of 101st Convocation of Banaras Hindu University Degree Distribution Function of the Faculty of Agriculture was organised at Shatabdi Krishi Prekshagrih of the Institute of Agricultural Sciences on Tuesday.

More than 400 students were presented degree certificate for Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Science (Agriculture) and Bachelor of Science (Agriculture) on the occasion. The Chief Guest of the function Dr. R.C. Agrawal, Deputy Director General (Education), ICAR, New Delhi  while congratulating the graduates for their successful journey as a student at Banaras Hindu University urged them to be innovative for solving emerging challenges from natural resource degradation, climate change and market reorientation. Seven of the Seventeen Millennium development goal of the United Nations are of concerned to Agriculture alone and Agriculture graduate must address the challenges of present and future agriculture to achieve those goals.

Welcoming the graduates and their parents and distinguished members of the audience Prof. Ramesh Chand, Director of the Institute presented summery of the brief achievements of the Institute. Institute has signed MoU with International organizations, ICAR Institute and Agro Industries for innovative research and education to the graduates said Dr. Chand. We have established Innovation Cell in partnership with IIT, BHU to train the students and farmers to development entrepreneurship.

Different Heads of the Departments – Prof. Rakesh Singh, Prof. J.S. Bohra, Prof. B. Jirli, Prof. R.N. Singh, Prof. D.C. Rai, Prof. Praveen Prakash, Prof. R.P. Singh, Prof. Janardan Yadav, Prof. Ramesh Chand, Prof. Anand Kumar Singh and Prof. A.K. Nema presented the candidate for award of Ph.D.  and master degree in their subjects. Ms. Shavya Singh was awarded Gold Medal for securing highest marks at Undergraduate level and Ms. Sneha Gupta was honoured with Gold Medal for securing First Rank at Master level. The Dean, Faculty of Agriculture Prof. A.P. Singh presented the graduate students for certificate distribution. Prof. Ramadevi Nimmanapalli, Dean, Faculty of Veterinary & Animal Sciences awarded the certificate to the students who qualified the Undergraduate programme of Agriculture at RGSC, Barkachha.

Undergraduate students received their certificate from the Director of the Institute and Master Degree certificate were given by the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture. The function was organized by a team consisting of Prof. J.P. Srivastava, Prof. S.P. Singh, Prof. P.K. Singh, Prof. S.V.S. Raju, Prof. Ramesh Kumar Singh, Dr. M. Raghuraman and Dr. Chhaya Goel. Dr. Anjana Sisodia conducted the programme and Prof. Ramadevi Nimmanapalli presented the vote of thanks.
