FSDA team attacked in Ballia

Varanasi: A team of Food Safety and Drug Administration was attacked during sampling of milk at Maldepur turning in Phephna area of Ballia district on Friday. Six persons were injured in this attack.

When the FSDA team led by food safety officer Amit Kumar Singh had gone to take sample of milk from a tea stall, they were attacked with sticks and rods by the shop owner and his aides. Singh other members of team including Dinesh Kumar Rai, Vipin Kumar Giri, Narendra Kumar, Chandra Prakash Yadav, and Santosh Kumar were injured in the attack.

He lodged FIR against tea stall owner Ranji Pandey and 20 unknown persons under sections 332 voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) and 147 (rioting) of IPC. The police said that efforts are on to nab the accused.
