IIT (BHU) holds PI meeting and orientation programme

Varanasi. Regional Coordinating Institution, Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), organized a one-day Participating Institutions meeting and orientation programme of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, at  IIT(BHU), on 15th November, 2019.

The meeting was convened to discuss the progress and development made by different PI, in their adopted villages and contribution made by them for the villages. Addressing the inaugural function Prof. S.B. Dwivedi, Dean of Academic Affairs, IIT(BHU) gave a basic idea about Unnat Bharat Abhiyan.

Resource person Prof. Vivek Kumar, Dy. Coordinator of UBA, NCI, IIT(Delhi) discussed about various issues related to Utilization certificate of funds made available to PI, he also discussed about rural entrepreneurship, plastic-free villages, how to make action plan for the execution of UBA initiatives, participation and direct involvement of villagers in order to identify and solve the problems of villages, above issues can be dealt in better ways through rapport building with villagers and connecting with them.

 Prof. Vivek further shared how to involve all technical and non-technical institution with UBA, development of UBA have been put forward by different PI’s, villagers and people and not only by MHRD. He also shared the new initiative of UBA, the emphasis was made on the fact that PI contribution should not be limited to data collection and survey of villages rather doing some tangible things for the villages adopted.

Dr. Priyanka Kaushal IIT(Delhi),  discussed technical issues of the UBA funding, data uploading, joining of new PI’s,  proposal acceptance and funding from different agencies.

Dr. Shishir Gaur, faculty of Civil Engineering IIT(BHU), discussed about Jal Shakti Abhiyan and its implementation in the adopted villages by PI’s of UBA. 

Meeting was convened by Dr. Ruchir Gupta, Dy. Coordinator, UBA, RCI, IIT(BHU), Members present were  Dr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, UBA, Coordinator, IIIT(Allahabad), Prayagraj, Dr. Satish Kanaujia from IIT(BHU), Mr. Manhar Charan, IIT(BHU), Dr. Richa Mishra from Arya Mahila PG College, Dr. Akhilesh Kr. Rai form V.K.M. Kamaccha, Varanasi. Dr. Anurika Vaish form IIIT(Allahabad), Prayagraj, and 26 other coordinators and sub coordinators from distinguish PI’s of the Purvanchal region.

 It was decided that RCI, IIT(BHU) will rigorously work on Jal Shakti Abhiyan, Single-use plastic-free Abhiyan, and waste management for the effective implementation of UBA in the society for healthy, wealthy, prosperous and developed Bharat.
