Varanasi: The department of Department of Biochemistry, Institute of Science, Banaras Hindu University is going to organize the four-day 8th International Translational Cancer Research Conference (TCR-2020) on ‘Role of Inflammation and Immune System for Cancer Prevention and Treatment’ under the auspices of Society for Translational Cancer Research from February 13-16.

The organizing secretary Dr Subhash Chandra Gupta said that Over 300 delegates including more than 30 foreign delegates from 7 different countries would take part in the conference. He said that Cancer is a life-threatening disease. Every year several individuals die of cancer. Earlier, the incidences of cancer and death were more in America as compared to India. However, the trend has reversed in the recent years. The most common treatment methods for cancer include chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery. Another aspect of cancer treatment is immunotherapy. The 2018 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was provided in the field of cancer immunotherapy. Although immunotherapy has provided a new hope, not all patients respond to this therapy.

The conference is being organized to discuss the existing concepts, recent findings, and challenges in the field of inflammation and cancer immunotherapy. The conference will be inaugurated on February 13, 2020 by Prof Rajendra Badwe, Director, Tata Cancer Center, Mumbai. In this conference, researchers, clinicians, academicians and industrialists are joining hands under one umbrella. The speakers of the conference include expert clinicians and top scientists in the field.
