Varanasi: A constable allegedly mercilessly beat two women including a pregnant lady during lockdown in Ballia district on Thursday. Soon after the video went viral on social media the accused constable sent to the police lines and a probe ordered against him.
According to reports, the video showed a policeman on petrol duty brutally beating the women in Sahatwar area of Ballia district. The constable was later identified as Ashutosh Singh posted at Sahatwar police station.
Ballia ASP Sanjay Yadav said that after sending the constable to the lines, CO has been asked to investigate the matter. Appropriate action would be taken in this matter, he added.
