Ramalay Nyas to move to court
Varanasi: The seers in Kashi, the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, are up in arms about his government’s newly formed Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
Challenging the government, the Ramalay Nyas headed by the Shankaracharya of Sharda-Dwarka and Jyotish peeths Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati has decided to move to the court on this issue. “We are moving to the court as the government did not follow the directive of the Supreme Court in true sense for the formation of a new trust,” said the Shankarachary’s disciple and Ramalay Nyas secretary Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati while talking to reporters at Shri Vidya Math on Thursday. He said that the Apex Court had directed the central government to formulate a ‘scheme’ only, not a trust for the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya.
“It is accepted even in government’s notification, which reads – ‘the Supreme Court, dated 9th November, 2019 in its Judgement, has directed that the central government shall, within a period of three months from the date of the judgement, formulate a scheme pursuant to the powers vested in it under sections 6 and 7 of the said Act,” said the seer referring to the notification issued on Wednesday.
“Ramalay Nyas is of the view that the central government has not maintained transparency in compliance of the SC’s directive”, he said and added that the government also took full liberty in appointing the trustees of its own choice without any set criteria. “We wonder how Vasudevanand has been included in the trust as the capacity of Shsankaracharya of Jyotishpeet, when the court has restricted him to be called as the Shsankaracharya,” he said adding “It is purely an act of contempt of the court”.
He said that soon after the court’s verdict the Ramalay Nyas had given its proposal to the government for the construction of a grand temple at Ram Janmsabhoomi in Ayodya. “But the government’s announcement showed that it has no confidence in Hindu dharmacharyas,” he said and alleged that the people involved in the demolition of disputed structure at Ramjanmabhoomi have been inducted in the trust.
“It is also unfortunate that attempt is being made to divide Hindus on caste line by including a trustee from dalit community. If government wants a trustee from dalit quota, then it should also have a representation from OBC,” he said and alleged further RSS people have been included in the trust ignoring the Ayodhya saints like Janmejay Sharan, Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, Swami Chakrapani, Mahant Dharm Das, who devoted their life for this cause.
