‘Udghosh-2020’ of Govt Ayurveda College and Hospital begins

Varanasi: “Udghosh-2020” -a week-long sports extravaganza organized by the Government Ayurveda College and Hospital began on the ground of Sampurnanad Sanskrit University on Monday.

The sporting event began with the 100m sprint by noted athlete Neelu Mishra. The principal Prof Neelam Gupta said that the event has been organized to create awareness about sports and fitness among the medicos.

The inaugural day witnessed two events -cricket for male medicos and 100m race for female medicos. Two cricket league matches were held on the first day. The first match was won by the students of 2016 batch, while the PG students registered victory in the second match. The members of cricket team committee Dr Manohar Ram, Dr Vijay Kumar Rai, Dr Manish Mishra, Dr Sanjay Prakash and Dr Premkant Yadav conducted the games.

In 100m race of female doctors, Dr Suman Yadav secured first position followed by Dr Teena Singhal and Dr Bhavna Dwivedi on second and third positions respectively. The race was conducted by Dr PK Singh, Dr Sameer Kumar Rathore, Dr Ankit Gupta, Dr Parvez Ahmed, Dr Ashish Garai and Dr Ajay Kumar.

During the sports week nine sporting events including cricket, khokho, tug of war, volleyball, carrom, badminton, 100m race, table tennis and chess will be held. The prizes and certificates will be distributed among the winners on the concluding day on February 8.
