IIT (BHU) to hold SPARDHA-19

Varanasi. Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi, is organizing the 35th edition of its Games and Sports extravaganza, Spardha, from October 18 to 20.

The Opening ceremony will take place in the presence of Mr. Rajpal Singh, a legend of the hockey, having led the Indian team to a formidable victory in Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in 2010. The inaugural function will also be attended by Mr. Mandeep Jangra, one of the most prominent upcoming stalwarts in the Global Boxing fraternity. The closing ceremony will be attended by cricketer Mr. Amit Mishra and shooter Mr. Ranjan Singh Sodhi on Sunday.

Spardha has been a confluence of multifarious sports, games, and informal activities. In its history of 35 years, it has metamorphosed into one of the largest and most awaited sports fest. Every year, Spardha witnesses impressive participation from numerous educational institutions, like IIT’s, NIT’s, IIIT’s and other prestigious institutions.

The sports fest also attracts huge participation in Udbhav- a flagship school tournament wherein the students of many schools of Varanasi compete to win exciting prizes. A campus ambassador programme was also launched this year to enhance participation from different colleges. SPARDHA comprises of 21 different sporting events of which Aquatics was inducted recently.
