IIT(BHU) Assistant Professor selected for the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE)Young Engineer Award 2019

Varanasi: Dr. Shyam Kamal has been selected for the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) Young Engineer Award 2019. He is going to receive this award in the INAE Annual Convention being held at Birla Institute of Scientific Research (BISR), Statue Circle, Jaipur on December 13-14, 2019.

The Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), founded in 1987, comprises India’s most distinguished engineers, engineer-scientists, and technologists covering the entire spectrum of engineering disciplines. INAE functions as an apex body and promotes the practice of engineering & technology and the related sciences for their application to solving problems of national importance.

The Academy also provides a forum for futuristic planning for the country’s development requiring engineering and technological inputs and brings together specialists from such fields as may be necessary for comprehensive solutions to the needs of the country, encourage and promote the pursuit of excellence in the field of ‘Engineering’.

The primary purpose of the award is to recognize outstanding achievements /contributions made by Young Engineers in any branch of engineering. It is given to the citizen of India not older than 35 years as on the 1st of January 2019. The award shall consist of a cash prize of Rs.1 lakh and a citation. All INAE Young Engineer Awardees will also become INAE Young Associates” on the conferment of the award and shall continue to be “INAE Young Associates” till attaining 45 years of age.

Dr. Shyam Kamal is presentlyworking as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi. He received this award for solving the problem “realization of higher-order sliding mode control using continuous control signal.” Currently, it is known as the fifth generation of sliding mode controllers, which has successfully been analyzed, solved, and demonstrated on the Industrial Emulator Setup by him. Convergence time is one of the most critical performance measures of dynamical systems from a practical perspective. A new dimension in the category of pre-specified time stable systems, known as free-will arbitrary time stable system, has been recently introduced by his group.
