50 lockdown breakers resting at a makeshift jail on Prayagraj Road

 

Varanasi: Breaking lockdown may put you in troubled waters. A makeshift jail created at a degree college on Varanasi-Prayagraj Road is ready to confine the lockdown breakers.

The district magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma said that the temporary jail has been created under Bandi Adhiniyam. The jail is under the charge of the district jailor. In view of the outbreak of corona virus, the temporary jail has been created as a precautionary measure to lodged the breakers of lockdown instead of sending them to the existing district jail or central jail. After completion of remand period they are sent to quarantine home before releasing them.

“Presently 50 people, who violated the lockdown, have been lodged in this temporary jail,” said the DM. Besides, the thermal scanning of all inmates of the district and central jails have also been conducted, he added.
