International Women’s Day observed by NER, DLW

 

Varanasi: The Indian Railway and its units have been holding a series of programmes from March 1 to 10 to commemorate the International Women’s Day. In this series, the Varanasi division of North Eastern Railway (NER) and Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW) also held activities in honour of women.

The members of the NER Scout and Guide Zila Sangh staged street plays at the waiting hall of the Manduadih railway station advocating women empowerment and giving message of equal rights to women.

Earlier, the scout and guide members also conducted an awareness campaign at platforms 1-8 for improving the social status of women, check on female feticide, equal education and employment opportunities.

 

The street play was directed by SP Srivastava and supported by Amit Kumar, Asha Sharma and Babita. The play was presented by Simpi Kumari, Kumari Mamata, Shivangi Yadav, Shrishti Verma, Nidhi Pandey, Vaishnavi Pandey, Ritika Sharma, Rani Yadav, Vaishali, Vishal Kumar, Guddu, Akash Kumar and Anil Gupta.

Meanwhile, a lecture programme on women’s health and welfare was organized at the DLW. The programme was addressed by Mamata Singh, M Bhavana and Jayshri Dhruve. The programme was conducted by RK Chowdhary, while Piyush Minj extended a vote of thanks.
