Indian Railway gears up to battle against COVID-19 (Corona Virus)

 

Varanasi: The Indian Railway has tightened its belt to fight against the threat of Coronavirus by adopting necessary measures and creating mass awareness. The general manager of North Eastern Railway (NER) LC Trivedi reviewed the situation and directed accordingly for making necessary arrangements.

According to the chief public relation officer Pankaj Kumar Singh, the isolation wards and quarantine wards have been created at NER headquarters Gorakhpur and its three divisions including Varanasi, Izzatnagar and Lucknow. People are made aware of the symptoms of coronavirus and preventive measures through auto announcement system and seminars at the railway stations, offices and other places.

Helpline booths have been created at Varanasi City, Manduadih, Prayagraj, Rambagh, Bhatni, Siwan and Chapra railway stations of Varanasi division of NER. Doctors and trained medical staff have been deputed at these booths to examine the suspected cases. Special attention is being given at sensitive stations.

For the virus-infected persons 1000-bed quarantine wards and 50-bed isolation ward have been created at Lalit Narayan Mishra Railway station, Gorakhpur, Divisional Hospitals in Varanasi, Izzatnagar and Lucknow. Besides, special equipment has been arranged at the pathology department of the divisional hospital for the testing to samples. People are also made aware of dos and don’ts to check the spread of the virus.
