Varanasi: A police constable found dead in mysterious circumstances in a canal in Jamania area of Ghazipur district on Friday.
The deceased was identified as as Sudhir Kumar Yadav (32), resident of Daudahi village in Jamania police station area. He was posted in Hardoi district.
According to Ghazipur SP Arvind Chaturvedi, constable had been absent from his duty for a long time. It came to light that he left home on August 4 to join his duty. His bag was found near the canal after which his kin started looking for him. The matter is being investigated.
