First Flight for Haj to take off on Monday

 

VARANASI: The first flight carrying 160 Haj pilgrims will take off from Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport, Babatpur for Jeddah on Monday. A total of 2,630 Haj pilgrims from this region will go on pilgrimage through 17 flights in a week.

The member of Central Haj Committee and coordinator of Varanasi embarkation Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad Javed said that the first flight would carry pilgrims from Allahabad (58), Azamgarh (6), Ghazipur (6), Jaunpur (9), Maharajganj (1), Mirzapur (7) and Varanasi (73). Among them 88 are male and 72 are female. On July 30, at total of 640 pilgrims will fly for Jeddah by four flights.

The Haj pilgrims will leave for the airport from the makeshift Haj House at the Cultural Complex, Chowkaghat by buses. Qaji-e-shaher Maulana Ghulam Yasin will pray for the pilgrims before their departure. The buses will be flagged off by various religious leaders including Mahamandaleshwar Santoshdas Satua Baba, director of Maitri Bhawan Dr. Chandrakant, Granthi Dharmaveer Sing of Nichibagh Gurudwara, and others.
