Girl gang raped, Four arrested

Mirzapur: The police arrested four youths including a CRPF jawan for alleged gang rape of a minor girl in Halia area of the district on Tuesday. Their beacon light fitted car with police logo was also seized.


According to Halia inspector Devivar Shukla, on the complaint of girl’s father the arrested persons were booked under section 376 (rape) of IPC, POCSO Act and MV Act.


According to reports, the girl, a high school student and native of a village in Halia police station area, was taken to a remote place by the four youth and allegedly gang raped. The main accused Jaiprakash Maurya, who is the son of a retired jailer living in Varanasi, went to the village with his three friends Mahendra Kumar Yadav, a CRPF jawan posted at Sultanpur, Ganesh Prasad and Lav Kush Kumar, both natives of Mirzapur. Jaiprakash was presently living in Chhoti Sihaval village in Jigna. The girl was known to him, as he used to frequent to the village to meet his relative.

A police team during checking drive near Bhatwari village stopped their car when they were returning. Seeing a girl with four youths in beacon light fitted car the police suspected something wrong and took them to the police station for interrogation. Meanwhile, the girl’s father also reached police station and lodged a complaint. After arresting the four the police sent the girl for medical examination
