One more Afghan nation nabbed with Indian passport, two cops suspended

Varanasi: One more Afghan national Kiramatullah Ahmadzai was arrested in Indian passport procuring case after the arrest of an Afghan national Abid Abdullah in Varanasi on January 31 and his local aide Sahabe Alam in Azamgarh on Sunday. Kiramatullah was arrested in Kolkata by Azamgarh police on Sunday.

A sub-inspector and a constable of Phoolpur police station were suspended for negligence in duty. While Abid was trying to procure Indian passport on the basis of fake documents, Kiramatullah had already procured the Indian passport.


According to Azamgarh SP Trveni Singh, during interrogation of Sahabe Alam he divulged that he had also helped Kiramatullah in procuring the passport on the basis of forged documents, and he was presently in Kolkata to procure VISA of UAE. Immediately a police team was sent to Kolkata to nab him.


The Azamgarh police team with the help of Kolkata police arrested Kiramatullah and recovered fake Aadhar Card, residential certificate, affidavit copy, voter identity card and an Indian passport from him. He was brought to Azamgarh and booked under sections 419 (cheating by personation), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 467 (forgery of valuable security, will), 468 (Forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record). of IPC and 14 Foreign Act 1946 and 12 Passport Act. Later, he was sent to jail on Monday.

He confessed that he procured forged documents with the help of Sahabe Alam to get Indian passport in the name of Mohammed Tahir Alam, resident of Chamradih village in Phoolpur police station area of Azamgarh. Sahabe Alam had offered him and Abid Abdullah arranging Indian passports against the payments of Rs. 25,000 and 20,000 respectively. After getting passport he went to Kolkata for VISA, while his friend stayed in Varanasi to get passport.
