Varanasi: A ‘Legal Awareness and Community Education Programme’ was organized by the Legal Aid and Services Clinic, Law School, Banaras Hindu University at Vasanta College for Women, Rajghat on Friday.
The event highlighted the issues and remedies available to women like domestic violence, and sexual harassment of women at workplace. The students through skit, poems and power point presentation highlighted how to file an offline and online FIR, consumer rights, property rights of women, and informed them about various helpline numbers.
The executive director of Legal Aid and Service Clinic, Prof. Shailendra Kumar Gupta spoke about legal issues related to protection of rights of women. The event was attended by around 300 students and 60 teachers. The Legal Aid and Services Clinic also proposed to establish a Legal Literacy Club at the College.
