Satya Foundation, a National organisation running campaign against Noise Pollution for the last 11 years organised Noise Pollution Awareness Programme at two different Schools of Varanasi- Bhartiya Shiksha Mandir Inter College and Kamlapati Tripathi Girls Inter college on Tuesday.
In both of these programmes, Satya Foundation Secretary Chetan Upadhyaya administered Oath to the students that they will never use any D.J. or firecrackers in any of the marriage or religious ceremonies. The students also took pledge that they will not use any Loudspeaker, Band, Horn or Power loom between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. and even during the day, they will restrict the sound limit to 75 decibel. The students also took pledge that for those who do not not comply with the law, they shall make secret complaint to Police on toll-free 112 or contact the Circle Officer (Dy. S.P.) or Satya Foundation on 9212735622 . The students also took oath that in case of Pressure Horn / Multi tone Horn or any Noisy Motorcycle without silencer, they will note down the vehicle number with date / time / place and send to Varanasi traffic police for challan on Whatsapp number 7317 20 20 20
Prior to this, addressing the students of Bhartiya Shiksha Mandir Inter College, the famous Cardiologist, Dr Ajay Kumar Pandey of Galaxy Hospital, Varanasi said that before the law and police, comes the role of self awareness and humanitarian values. Dr. Ajay Kumar Pandey appealed the students to start behaving with others in the same way which they want for themselves. Due to noise pollution, cardiac problems, anxiety, depression, headache, migraine, suspecting behaviour, deafness and so many diseases are on the rise and the crusade against noise must start with one’s own home. In the second programme of the day organised at Kamalapti Tripathi Girls Inter College Varanasi, the famous Eye Surgeon & Secretary of Varanasi Eye Bank Society, Dr. Sunil Kumar Sah while addressing the students said that even Mobile phone is major cause of Noise Pollution and the students should use Mobile only for educational and research purposes. Dr. Sunil Kumar Sah further said that we should unitedly boycott D.J. and Firecrackers in our Social and Religious Functions. And it is also necessary to check the menace of Horn and use it only when very necessary, Dr. Sunil Kumar Sah said. The vote of thanks was given by the Principal, Mrs. Kamlesh Kumari.
