Six cooks arrested for negligence causing the death of a kid

Varanasi: The police arrested six mid-day meal cooks of Rampur Atari primary school in Lalganj area of Mirzapur district on Tuesday for their negligence that led to the death of a three-year-old girl after falling into the pot of hot vegetable on Monday.

An FIR was registered against the cooks including Lilawati Devi, Kamlawati Devi, Sona Devi, Mona Devi, Reeta Devi and Nagina Devi under section 304A (causing death by negligence) of IPC. The police sent them to jail on Tuesday.

On Tuesday an irate mob of villagers including the girl’s parents assembled at the school and locked it demanding action against the guilty persons. The Mirzapur district magistrate Sushil Patel and SP Dr Dharm Veer Singh, who visited the school to take firsthand account of the incident, pacified them assuring appropriate action against the guilty persons. The school headmaster Santosh Kumar Yadav was suspended on Monday.

The girl Anchal, daughter of Bhagirathi Kol, was enrolled at the Aanganwadi centre in the school. While playing the girl accidentally fell into the vegetable container. The teachers rushed her to the primary health centre from where she was referred to the district hospital. Later, she succumbed to injuries during treatment.
