An Afghan, Indian aide arrested

Varanasi: The police on Sunday arrested an Afghanistan national Abid Abdullah (25) and Sahbe Alam of Chamradih village of Phoolpur area in Azamgarh district sent to jail for procuring Indian passport for Abid with fake Aadhar and voter identity cards.

According to SP City Dinesh Kumar Singh, they have been booked under section 419, 420, 467, 468, 471 of IPC and 14 foreigners act 1946 and sent to jail after producing before the court. 

Abid was taken under custody by Bhelupur police on January 31 when he had gone to the passport office in Mahmoorganj area. The and staff of the office alerted the police after noticing his doubtful activities. During initial interrogation Abid said that he became friend of Alam through Facebook. He came to India on January 11, and after staying in Delhi for few days he went to Azamgarh to meet Alam.  

During interrogation, they said that Abid wanted to go to Kuwait, where entry of Afghan nationals is banned, by procuring Indian passport. Alam assured him for arranging Indian passport against the payment of Rs 20,000. Alam had also stayed in Kuwait for many years from 2013 on two-year working visa. However, he illegally stayed there till 2018 and during his stay in Kuwait Alam had come in contact with an Afghan national Ali, who asked him to return India and work for facilitating Afghan national interested in visiting Kuwait to get Indian passport.  

After returning home Alam started work assigned by Ali and arranged fake Indian passports to many Afghan nationals in the past. On January 31 Alam had also gone to the passport office with Abid, but he fled from the scene after Abid was taken under police. Alam confessed that he had arranged the Aadhar and voter ID card for Abid.
