Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to offer prayer at Sant Ravidas Temple

Varanasi: A day after the Delhi assembly polls, the AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will take part in Ravidas Jayanti celebration at his birthplace in Seer Gowardhanpur area on Sunday.

According to senior Congress leader and former MLA Ajay Rai, Priyanka will land at the Lal Bahadur Shastri International airport at 12.10pm and moved to Sant Ravidas Temple to offer prayer. Before returning to Delhi she will also meet Sant Niranjan Das.

Ravidas Jayanti is celebrated at a grand scale at Seer Gowardhanpur attracting thousands of devotees from across the world. Political leaders also visit the temple for their political benefits. Former AICC president Rahul Gandhi had also visited the temple in 2011, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal attended the Ravidas Jayanti celebration in 2016.

In view of the large gathering of the followers of Sant Ravidas, the local administration has made elaborate security arrangements at Seer Gowardhanpur. Senior officials including ADG Varanasi zone Brij Bhushan, IG Varanasi range VS Mina, and district magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma visited the place to take stock of the arrangements.
