Sri Lankan PM Mahinda Rajapaksa visiting Kashi

Varanasi: Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa is arriving Varanasi on Sunday. He is on a State visit to India from February 8 – 11 at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Sri Lankan PM is in India with a high-level delegation. He held delegation level talks with the PM and also called on President Ram Nath Kovind on Saturday. After his official engagements in Delhi, he travel to Varanasi, Sarnath, Bodh Gaya, Tirupati before he gets back to Colombo.

During his stay in Varanasi, he will offer prayer at Kashi Vishwanath temple, and visit Sarnath, the place where Buddha delivered his first sermons. The local administration is ready to give a red-carpet welcome to the visiting guest. The ADG Varanasi zone Brij Bhushan along with other officials on Saturday visited Kashi Vishwanath temple and Sarnath to take stock of security arrangements.
