VARANASI: A married woman was allegedly killed by her husband at Kaithishankarpur village in Devgaon police station area of Azamgarh district on Thursday night. The police arrested three persons including her husband and in-laws on Friday. The body was sent for postmortem.
According to reports, over some dispute Deepak Singh allegedly shot his wife Pragya Singh (25) on Thursday night. She died on the spot. After shooting his wife, he also informed his father-in-law Kuldeep Singh, resident of Lodhipur village.
Senior police officials including Azamgarh SP Triveni Singh reached the village to take account of the incident. On the complaint of Kuldeep the police lodged an FIR with dowry killing charges against Deepak and his parents. The police arrested them. In his complaint, Kuldeep alleged that his daughter had been tortured for dowry since her marriage in April 2017.
