Jailbreak in Ghazipur, two escape

 

Ghazipur: Two under trial prisoners, who were behind the bars under POCSO Act and IPC sections, escaped from Ghazipur district jail on Saturday evening. Two wardens have been suspended for laxity in duty.

According to reports, Himanshu Yadav and Vikas (both around 19) were in a case of sexual harassment of a minor girl, and were booked under section 354, 505, 506 of IPC and 7/8 Pocso Act. The case was lodged with Khanpur police station. They were lodged in the jail on May 22, and kept in quarantine barrack.

On Saturday they had been taken to jail office for the feeding of their detailed information and after data feeding, they were sent back to their barrack. When the counting of prisoners conducted by jail authorities at 7 pm both were found absent. The matter was informed to the district magistrate and SP.

According to DIG (prison) Varanasi range BR Verma, the investigation into the matter is in progress.
