Drug peddlers arrested in Ballia

Ballia: The police succeeded in nabbing three members of a gang of drug smugglers near Chaukiya crossing in Ubhaon area on Monday night and recovered 2.8 quintals of ganja worth of Rs. 72 lakhs.

According to reports, while conducting a vehicle checking drive near Chaukiya crossing the police got a tip off regarding the movement of drug smugglers in a ruck coming from Andhra Pradesh. Soon they spotted the truck and stopped it for checking.

While checking the police recovered 56 packets of ganja hidden under the coconut waste. The arrested persons were identified as Vikas Yadav alias Guddu, Sonu alias Sunil Kushwaha, both residents of Ghazipur district, and Ajit Chaubey of Azamgarh district.

The police also recovered three country made pistols and six live cartridges from them They were booked under sections of NDPS Act and Arms Act, while the truck was seized under MV Act.
