Woman killed in a clash in Azamgarh

Azamgarh: In a group clash over the issue of rainwater drainage a woman was killed at Chaukna village in Maharajganj police station area of Azamgarh district on Thursday. She sustained serious injury when allegedly hit by her neighbour. The body was sent for postmortem. The police are investigating the matter.

According to reports, owing the heavy rains water started logging in front of the house of a local resident Sushila. To stop rainwater entering the house, Sushila put soil in front of the house. Changing it course the rainwater started flowing toward the house of her neighbour Rambadan Maurya. Seeing the water entering the house Rambadan’s wife Bhanmati started removing the soil.

The dispute occurred when Shushila objected it. Soon both the group clashed using sticks and rods. Someone hit Bhanmati’s head with a blunt object causing serious injury. The family members rushed her to the district hospital where she was declared dead by the doctors.

The police reached the village after getting the information and sent the body for postmortem. Azamgarh SP (rural) Siddharth said that the matter is being investigated, and a manhunt has been launched to nab the accused.
