One more COVID-19 positive case found in Varanasi

Number of hotspots rises to six

 

Varanasi: One more person tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday evening. The 75-year-old diabetic belongs to Pitarkunda locality in Sigra area of Varanasi city. With this new case now the number of hotspots rose to six from five.

Except his visit to Delhi in the first week of March, the man has no other travel history. The health officials are trying to know the source of infection by consulting family members and a private hospital in Mahmoorganj area, where he was being treated for his other ailments. He had also gone for CT-scan before getting referred to the BHU hospital. According to the district magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma, the health personnel are collecting the details of his movements of the patient.

After feeling respiratory problem, he was taken to a private hospital on April 17. He was being treated for diabetes and other ailments for past many years. The private hospital has been asked to provide details of all persons, who were present in hospital during his stay. Besides, the screening of his family members is also being done.

DM said that Pitarkunda area was declared a new hotspot with the buffer zone of one-km radius. The counting of families and population of this locality is being done.
