Lucknow: UP Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday approved seven important proposals including Rs 446.46 crore for installation of a grand statue of Lord Ram and construction of a digital museum in Ayodhya.

The cabinet also approved a proposal of establishing a tourist police station in Varanasi, the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Whereas on the proposal of creation of 28 new development blocks in the state, CM has asked for another survey and study.

Talking to reporters the spokespersons of Uttar Pradesh Government, Shrikant Sharma and Siddharth Nath Singh, said that for the grand statue of Lord Shri Ram along with digital museum, food plaza, library and landscaping in Ayodhya, a proposal of Rs 446.46 crore for the purchase of 61.3807 hectare of land in village Mirpur of Sadar tehsil has been passed. For DPR and other tasks, a sum of Rs 200 crore would be provided. The government has approved Rs 100 crore for this in the financial year 2019-20. The cabinet has authorized the CM for any further decisions to be taken in this matter.

They said that in view of tourism, the Cantt police station in Varanasi has been divided into two parts. The proposal has been approved for providing land on lease to the Home Department for the formation of a new police station in the name of Pandeypur-Lalpur after the division of Cantt police station.

During the cabinet meeting, the CM said there is a need to conduct the survey and study yet again for the creation of 28 development blocks in the state. This matter will, hence, be discussed again. Sharma said that there was a proposal to create a total of 30 development blocks in the state out of which the cabinet passed the proposal of creating two development blocks (Kon and Karma in Sonbhadra district).

Under the state’s solar energy policy, the proposal has been cleared to select the companies based on competitive tender documents for setting up a plant of 500-megawatt capacity by UPNEDA. Principal Secretary of Energy Department Alok Kumar said that in 2014 only 17 MW power was produced from solar energy, which has now increased to 1139 MW. Accordingly, 860 MW power generation is in progress. Solar power projects will be set up to generate 32 MW in Jalaun, 20 MW in Auraiya and 20 MW in Rihand, he said.

The government spokesman said the molasses policy has also been decided for the year 2019-20. He said that an estimated 500 lakh quintal molasses would be produced. Out of total production, now distilleries can sell 18% of the molasses production for the production of domestic liquor. It will be non-levy. Last year, the cap was fixed at 12.5% which later increased to 16 per cent.
