Team Customs seizes Gold and Saffron at LBSI-Airport

 

Varanasi: The customs team at the Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport Varanasi on 22/23 March seized a gold weighing 427.600 gram valued at Rs. 19,75,512/- extracted from the gold paste weighing 557.700 grams from one passenger arriving from Dubai to Varanasi.

The Gold paste was concealed and pasted in outer underwear of the passenger wearing two underwear to avoid detection through Hand Metal Detector but during personal search the gold paste was recovered.

In second case on the same day in the same flight, the foreign origin Saffron weighing 3.5 kg kept in 14 polythene bags (10 pouch of 25 gram each kept in each bag) was recovered during intense baggage check of the passenger. IPhone 08 mobile was also recovered and seized. Total value of good seized is Rs 2,10,000/-.

In the baggage of the passenger 12 ladies suits cloth and two (THAN) cloth were used to concealed the 14 bags of saffron kept one each in inner folding of clothes.
