ATAL BIHARI VAJPAYEE COVID HOSPITAL DEDICATED TO PEOPLE OF LUCKNOW

 

Lucknow: Amidst the current surge in cases, the Ministry of Defence has stepped up the fight against Covid by bolstering the existing medical infrastructure in coordination with the State Governments and set up well equipped Covid medical facilities across the country.

On the directions of the Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh, the 500 bed Atal Bihari Vajpayee Covid Hospital in Lucknow has been set up by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), at Awadh Shilpagram in record time. It is equipped with a 20 KL Oxygen Tank for uninterrupted supply besides dedicated power backup and bio medical and other waste management system. There will be no charges for facilities available in the hospital. Food will also be provided to patients free of charge. With the help of State Government DRDO has made arrangements for oxygen and medical supplies which will also be given free of charge. The hospital was opened by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath.

DRDO and the State Government has played a stellar role in quick operationalisation of the facility and are handling all major aspects such as supply of essential amenities to run the hospital, services management to include oxygen re-supply, patient management and waste disposal etc. The hospital is being run by a team from Armed Forces comprising of doctors of many specialities along with nurses and paramedic staff. The medical staff has been flown in from all across the country. Intensive training, quality checks of installed equipment and covid procedures and protocols have been completed prior to commissioning of the hospital.

The admission to the hospital will be controlled through an Integrated Control Centre at Lucknow established by the Uttar Pradesh State Authorities (0522-4523000). The hospital does not cater to walk in patients and admissions. Information on admitted patients will be available from the helpdesk at mobile numbers 9519109239 & 9519109240.

The hospital underlines the commitment of the Ministry of Defence and the State Governments to synergise their efforts for enhancing the health infrastructure in States to provide succor to the citizens.
