Varanasi: In a tragic incident a migrant worker was killed and seven others were injured when a truck overturned in Khutahan area of Jaunpur district on Friday morning.
According to reports, the accident occurred near Gobraha village in early morning when the driver lost control over the truck and it overturned in roadside ditch. The truck (UP 53 ET 0701) loaded with stone chips was going to Basti from Allahabad. As many as seven migrant workers returning homes on foot from Haryana and Mumbai boarded the truck at Allahabad.
One of them identified as Manoj Kumar (26), resident of Basti, died on the spot, while seven others including the truck driver sustained serious injuries. The injured persons were identified as Rajan of Basti, Awdhesh Kumar of Mau, Santosh Kumar of Sant Kabir Nagar, Naveen Kumar of Basti, Brijesh Kumar and his wife Guddi of Mau, and truck driver Vinod Kumar of Sant Kabir Nagar. The truck cleaner Mukesh of Basti fled from the scene after the accident.
The police reached there after getting information and rushed the injured persons to Khutahan community health centre. Two seriously injured persons Awdhesh and Rajan were referred to the district hospital.
Jaunpur district magistrate Dinesh Kumar Singh, SP Ashok Kumar and other officials reached the incident site after getting information. They also went to the hospital to see the injured persons.
