Kashi’s historian felicitated

 

Varanasi: Prof Ashok Kumar Singh, noted historian former head of the department of History, Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, has been honoured with ‘Maharaj Kumar Dr Raghuvir Singh Rashtriya Itishaskar Puraskar’ at a function held at Shri Natnagar Shodh Sansthan, Sitamau, Mandsaur (MP).

 

Prof. Singh, who is the member of the Indian Historical Records Committee of the central government, has authored 10 books on mediaeval history of India and over 80 research papers, book reviews, memoires.

The historians associated with the Centre for Historical and Cultural Studies and Research (CHCSR) expressed their joy over this honour to Prof. Singh. The joint secretary of CHCSR and assistant professor at Banaras Hindu University Dr Mridula Jaiswal said that Prof Singh encouraged the regional history writing.

The CHCSR at its meeting has resolved to give the responsibility of leading the team of historians to Prof Singh for regional history writing. The meeting was attended by Dr Rajeev Kumar Srivastava, Dr Anjali Yadav, Dr Priya Srivastava, Dr Anand Kumar Singh, Dr Mukesh Pratap Singh, Dr Vijay Kumar Srivastava, and Dr Sushil Singh.
