Varanasi: The Mahamana Malaviya Mission, Banaras Hindu University unit on Thursday donated Rs. 51,000 to PM Cares Fund as a contribution in combating the Corona pandemic.
Mahamana Malaviya Mission is a world-wide association of BHU Alumni and of those who believe in the ideals and vision of the founder Pt. Madan Mohan Malaviya.
A delegation comprising of president Dr. Upendra Kumar Tripathi, general secretary Vijay Nath Pandey and treasurer Prof. Shailendra Kumar Gupta called on the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rakesh Bhatnagar and handed over the cheque.
According to Tripathi, the members had been working for 15 days to raise the funds. Out of the total money collected, 50% was donated to the PM Cares Fund while the remaining amount was utilized for distribution of food packets to the poor and needy people in Varanasi.
