Varanasi: With the beginning of air service after a long closure during lockdown, as many as 1,215 passengers from 11 flights landed at the Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport on Monday. Similarly, 11 flights took off with 504 passengers for different destinations.
According to the district magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma, a total of 1,215 passengers from different places including Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Hyderabad and others arrived here on the first day. Similarly, scheduled flights departed with 504 passengers for Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Jaipur and Hyderabad.
The DM along with other officials and airport authorities visited the airport to see the arrangements of thermal scanning of passenger and other precautionary measures like social distancing and provision of sanitizers.
Earlier, an Air India flight had brought 82 passengers from London on May 18. All the operations of commercial flight remained closed since March 23 due to lockdown after the spread of COVID-19.
