Prohibitory orders promulgated in the district in view of COVID-19 threat

 

Varanasi: The district magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma issued prohibitory orders in the district for the prevention from the spread of COVID-19 (corona virus). A list of instructions was issued for strict compliance failing which action may be initiated under the Epidemic Disease Act 1897.

All the swimming pools private or public, gym, club, stadium, cinema halls and multiplexes will remain closed till March 31. All educational institutions including primary schools, secondary schools, higher educational institutions, coaching institute and libraries will also remain closed till April 2.

No sports event with participation of over 50 persons would be held in any stadium, sport complex or club. All the hotels, marriage lawns and paying guesthouses are restricted to hold family function of business events. All public, private or commercial events like conference, Holi Milan, birthday party and marriage anniversary will be restricted till March 31.

 

Marriage ceremonies and related programme, and essential traditional religious activities are exempted from the restriction. However, the organisers of such programmes are required to inform the magistrates of their respective areas at least three days before the event for the permission. Minimum number (below 50) guests should be invited to marriage ceremony.

 

Besides, in case of the necessity of other programmes in which more than 20 people are expected to take part the permission of magistrate is required. It will also be essential to provide the detailed list of the participants to the magistrate three days ahead of the event. The owners of hotels, lodges, guesthouses, paying guest accommodation or private building where foreign nationals stay would have to furnish all the details on the same day.
