Two killed in road mishap in Jaunpur

Varanasi: Two persons were killed while over two dozen sustained injuries when a roadways bus collided with a truck near Uchaura Bazar in Pawara police station area of Jaunpur district on Friday afternoon.

According to reports, a roadways bus (UP 70 DT 1237) carrying about 40 passengers was going to Gorakhpur from Prayagraj when it was hit by a speeding truck (Up 70 FT 7702) coming from opposite direction. A 23-year-old youth Ravikant Yadav, resident of Rani ki Sarai in Azamgarh district, died on the spot while a native of Prayagraj Sachchidanand Tripathi (55) succumbed to injuries at the primary health centre Mungrabadhshahpur.

Police reached there after getting information and started rescue operation. The injured persons were rushed to the PHC and the community health centre Sathariya for treatment. Seriously injured persons were referred to the district hospital.
