Azamgarh: Posting objectionable remarks against Samajwadi Party patriarch and former Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav on facebook proved costly to a local youth.
The police arrested him on Tuesday under sections 295A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), 505 (statements conducing to public mischief) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of IPC.
According to reports, the members of Azamgarh Samajwadi Pratinidhi Mandal lodged an FIR with Kotwali police station alleging that objectionable and derogatory posts against MSY are being circulated on the facebook ID of one Atul Singh. Acting on the complaint, the police arrested Atul, resident of Amiliya village in Gambhirpur area.
